In this issue
SACRED HEART MEDICAL CENTER is dedicated to providing
state-of-the-art, high-quality surgical care to every patient, every
time. We are committed to serving as a regional quality leader
by supporting the use of valid, reliable data to deliver optimal
patient care and to reduce medical errors. Through the use of
evidence-based practices, process improvement techniques and
systems to enhance the environment of care, we provide our
surgical teams with the tools to ensure consistent, excellent
patient outcomes. Our focus on innovative minimally invasive
surgical techniques contributes to our clinical outcomes and
patient satisfaction ratings.
In 2011, our overall general surgery program met or exceeded expectations for all
10 surgical care quality standards established by the American College of Surgeons
National Surgical Quality Improvement Program. Our spine program was designated
a Blue Distinction Center by the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association, an important
endorsement of the quality of our services. Our knee and hip replacement program
received the same distinction in 2009. Our surgeons, anesthesiologists, radiologists
and patient care staff continue to lead the way regionally in providing patients with
a range of effective and minimally invasive treatments for emergent problems and
elective procedures.
Our pledge to you is to continuously improve our delivery of patient-centered care
while raising the standards for surgical quality and safety.
